Long cycles and PCOS

PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) can be found in up to 95% of women who have long cycles and is a major cause of infertility.

PCOS is where the ovaries are enlarged and there are many follicles on the ovary but they contain immature eggs and ovulation rarely occurs, if at all. Male hormone levels are too high and the hormones produced by the ovaries (estrogen and progesterone) are out of balance.

Many women aren’t aware they have PCOS or aren’t diagnosed properly. If you have cycles that are greater than 38 days in length you may wish to look into this.

Aside from long cycles, you may experience weight gain, acne and facial hair growth.

Those clients I teach with PCOS often find they have continuous cervical mucus which can be confusing at first when determining when or if there are fertile days but this in itself is not an issue when learning the Creighton Model System and I can help them manage their chart with confidence. Most also need medical help through NaProTechnology to improve their hormones, health and chances of conception.
